I graduated with a first-class degree in English Literature and Creative Writing, and have since done various writing commissions (primarily prose and script writing). I have run writing workshops for Multistory, Aston Hall and Northfield Arts Forum, and I have also run a Writing Community through Windswept for the past two years. Writing is one clear approach to storytelling. However, I also enjoy incorporating theatre, movement and music to storytelling, as well as looking at telling aural stories. My exploration of storytelling often includes looking at existing stories such as Shakespeare, contemporary fiction, and YA fiction.
Workshops
I work with organisations to create storytelling workshops, courses and performances. Beneath are some examples of what I can offer:
Writing Workshop
A workshop that looks at writing poetry, prose and/or scriptwriting. This could be anything from idea generation to editing. These workshops can be tailored to suit the ability of participants.
Writing Commission
I am always open to writing commissions. I have experience writing creative audio tours for heritage sights, children's stories and short stories. I am particularly interested in themes around identity, heritage and race.
Performance Workshop
Workshops that use theatre and/or writing. These workshops can be about devising, scriptwork, or team building and having fun!
Performance Commission
I am open to performance work based around creative storytelling.
Exploring Stories
Workshops around reading and exploring books/texts. This can be like a book club, or more explorative and creative.
